We've moved!
Exciting news! The Pangea Network has moved to a new office in the Woodlands Mall. OK, the proper terminology is our "first" office. Our new location has been underwritten by a generous donor for one year. We now have work space for present and future staff and volunteers as well as a large comfortable conference room suitable for meetings, presentations and large envelope stuffing projects ... fun! Please feel free to drop by the mall at 1201 Lake Woodlands Drive, Suite 4012, just across the hall from Bikram Yoga of the Woodlands.
Kenya Program Update
Kibera - During a trip in July, we were able to visit the women involved in our Women Living Positively Project and what an incredible experience it was. Over the past 8 months, these HIV+ women have received rights based education, instruction in home based care, and micro-enterprise training. The women formed 7 groups of 10, meeting every Wednesday since the start of the project (except during the violent uprising in the beginning of the year). Initially, each woman contributed a small amount to a collective pot for their group and now every week they decide who among them needs a loan for a two week period. Repayment schedules are adhered to and the books they keep are beyond professional! The success of the project is evident in the confidence and enthusiasm they have as they look to start their businesses. The women also say that the strength that they have gained from each other and the support they feel from these new relationships has been one of the greatest gifts. This success is a tribute to our local partners and their commitment to these women's overall well-being and continued growth.
Holiday Cheer!
It's time again for us to celebrate the season and remember all the gifts of the year. Please join us Saturday, December 6 at 6:30pm at Bikram Yoga of the Woodlands as we show our deep gratitude to all our contributors and introduce ourselves to new friends of The Pangea Network. As usual, we will be displaying the beautiful artisan crafts created by the women of our worldwide programs. But, we will also be offering a silent auction of magnificent gifts and a fun cultural game for all to enjoy.
So mark your calendar, break out the candy cane tie and that embarrassing Santa hat and come enjoy the company of friends of The Pangea Network. Wine, hors d'oeuvres, prizes, shopping and a heartfelt thank you for all your support....we would love to see you there.
