Pangea Network thanks the students at Kempner High School
The Pangea Network would like to thank the students at Kempner High School for their support of the women in our Kibera Co-operative. Kempner students participated by designing bracelets on paper templates, which were then beaded by several Kibera Cooperative participants. Kempner High School then held a fundraiser the week of Mother's Day and successfully raised over $700.
The money the women received for their beadwork had a tremendous and immediate impact in each of their lives. For Nancy, who was pregnant at the time, her earnings brought great relief. She told Nicole Minor, the Executive Director of The Pangea Network, that she was very grateful because she would no longer have to worry about how she would pay her upcoming hospital bills. For Abigail, who is a remarkably ambitious woman, the money brought her closer to achieving her dream of becoming a grocery store owner. Abigail currently runs a small local business, which was initiated through the Kibera co-op, and still she managed to find the time to bead many of the bracelets.
Once again we would like to thank all of the participating students at Kempner High School for their hard work and generosity. Their messages of encouragement and support relayed to the cooperative members brought enormous joy to their faces and hearts.
Thank you from all of us at The Pangea Network!
