Who We Are

The Pangea Network is a non-profit organization committed to building appreciation for cultural diversity and facilitating sustainable income-generating activities for women in developing countries. Our work is truly collaborative with these communities and our partnering organizations,  honoring and respecting local ideas, customs and cultures.

HOW WE ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION:

Our approach is two-fold:

  • With the help of local partners, we identify proven women leaders who are unconditionally committed to helping their communities and can help guide the creation and/or strengthening of local income-generating projects.
  • Through our Education Forums, we develop programs that facilitate direct interaction with community members.

After the discovery of inspiring and courageous women, we reveal their stories through our website, our Ten for 10 dinners, presentations at high schools, universities and other appropriate venues.  In these venues, we discuss the culture and conditions that exist where these women live and work.  The stories reveal the life goals of real women and the activities in which they are involved that serve to move them toward achievement of their goals.  By making their names and faces real, Pangea fosters new understanding of the women of the world and urges people to action within their own lives as well as to become active participants in our global community.

Our local partners and the women leaders in these communities help us to understand the unique challenges of each environment.  These relationships are essential for designing the correct approach and model for our programs and we make sure that our partners are committed to the same values and ethical guidelines as our own.

Pangea’s Education Forums give students, educators, and civic groups, opportunities to interact directly with people from our partnering countries through structured projects, ranging from simple, open dialogue to cooperative problem- solving initiatives.  These Forums take place among high school students and at the University level.  Pangea’s success in these forums rests on the foundational theory of education: the more personal the knowledge gained, the more powerful the knowledge.
