Why We Do It

THE CURRENT SITUATION

As globalization occurs and our world becomes smaller, ironically,  world-wide suffering increases. The voices of certain populations are increasingly drowned out, particularly those of women and children.

In order to build a more peaceful world and provide real opportunities for each human being to reach their full potential, we must directly and immediately begin listening to the invaluable voices of women and address cultural misunderstandings and fear.

STAGGERING STATISTICS

Even with the new awareness and enlightenment offered by our evolving society, conflict and poverty abound worldwide. Displaced populations, (both Refugees and Internally Displace Peoples—IDPs) still number over 37 million, and over 1 billion people in the world still live on less than $1 a day.  There are 28 million people infected with HIV/AIDS in Africa alone. Only when we confront these staggering statistics and are able to understand it from the hearts and minds of those living the crises, will conflict and poverty become an intolerable truth that mandates transformation.

OUR PLATFORM

  • Pangea believes that transformation will occur when there is a strong platform for genuine dialogue.
  • We believe positive transformation will occur by the simple act of recognizing and valuing another human experience as equally as our own.
  • We believe empowering women, socially and economically, is an integral part of this transformation and can have the greatest impact on families, villages and entire communities.

Pangea offers the first step in the process of breaking down misconceptions and biases by highlighting the strength of women around the world and celebrating our diversity, while simultaneously recognizing our similarities
