The Pangea Network - Empowering Women, Transforming Lives

Sa'da

Sa'da lives in the West Bank, in the village of Qusra, where she participates in our Livestock for Livelihoods cooperative. The participants of this program attend training sessions that bring them out of their traditional home-based roles, encouraging them to become breadwinners. Participants receive technical and practical training in areas of animal husbandry; breeding, procuring and caring for sheep. Sheep and equipment are then distributed to the cooperative.

Women involved in this program find a social network as well as financial gains. The increased access to individual and community support encourages women to participate in community development and service.

At age 36, Sa'da has eight daughters between the ages of two months and eleven years. Her husband has been unable to find work for two years. Through our implementing partner, Pangea was able to provide Sa'da the training and equipment included in our Livestock for Livelihoods cooperative.

"I will now be able to support my family and daughters with the opportunity that Pangea has provided to us. The proceeds of selling the cheese and milk will create a better life for my family not previously available. I have to thank Pangea and IOCC for providing us with this opportunity and assistance, as we are now able to raise and educate our daughters."
