Women of the World
By sharing the stories of beautiful women in developing countries we shine the light of compassion and understanding on their lives.
Nancy lives and works in Kibera, where she participates in our Kibera Cooperative. Kibera is the largest slum in Sub-Saharan Africa, where roughly one million people live on less than one square mile of land, an area without running water, sanitation, or roads.
Sa'da lives in the West Bank, in the village of Qusra, where she participates in our Livestock for Livelihoods cooperative. The participants of this program attend training sessions that bring them out of their traditional home-based roles, encouraging them to become breadwinners. Participants receive technical and practical training in areas of animal husbandry; breeding, procuring and caring for sheep. Sheep and equipment are then distributed to the cooperative.
Catherine Omondi is the leader of the Huruma Women’s Group. She has run a successful business as a tailor and dressmaker for years. She is a mother, a church leader and an inspiration to the women in her group.
Agnes is a participant in the Kibera Women's Group. She is HIV positive, widowed and a mother of four children, three girls and one boy.
